Hello, and welcome to my newest web endeavor. It has taken quite some time to finalize this new incarnation of my portfolio, and in retrospect I’ve noticed that my approach to designing for myself is embarrassingly unsystematic. Without a single predisposed idea or vision for the end result, I will begin a design. And after suffering through enough disappointing end results I’ve begun to rethink a few of my methods.

Redesigning a freelance website is an exercise in masochism.

Another thing I noticed is that I am my own worst critic. No doubt something that every creative struggles with. Lea Alcantara put it wonderfully when she said: “Redesigning a freelance website is an exercise in masochism. There are no colleagues or an umbrella corporation to share the pain: It’s just you.” I’ve found that to be completely true, and my affinity for perfectionism is often a burden when trying to get things done. Although, this is much less a freelance website as it is a personal exploration in design and blogging (which would explain why it nevers stays the same for long).

That said, I’m hoping to do a fair amount of writing now that I have this online—and seeing as how I have this momentary interest in structure and possibly in developing some sort of a personal brand, I project that future topics on this blog will consist of some design commentary, projects I’m working on (both photo and design), some typical coffee-induced late night ramblings, and of course, the obligatory political rant. Feel free to subscribe, or check out my photography portfolio if you haven’t already! Adios!
